Costa Rica.

Karl Kani is born in Limon in 1968 and migrates to New York with his parents.

New York.

Karl Kani starts to make clothes in Brooklyn in 1984, and in 1995 is distributed by Macy’s in its iconic Herald Square flagship. In 2023, the Museum at FIT hosts the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop & Fashion exhibit.

Washington, D.C.

Kani is the first fashion designer invited to the White House to preview a line for President Bill Clinton.

California.

In 1933, brothers Ernest & Julio Gallo found their winery in Modesto, CA, and E&J Brandy is born there in 1975. In Los Angeles, Kani launches his first retail store on Crenshaw Blvd in 1989, and his high-end denim line in 2006.

Nevada.

In 2023, Kani is presented with Lifetime Icon Award at MAGIC Convention in Las Vegas.

Europe and Japan.

Kani fever sweeps the world with international distribution starting in 1995. Global collaborations between Kani x Pretty Little Things x ASOS are launched in 2018 and 2019 across the UK. Kani launches a collaboration with Etudes in 2018 in Paris.

Ingredients

1½ oz E&J XO Brandy
¾ oz simple syrup
¾ oz ruby red grapefruit juice
2 oz La Marca Prosecco

Instructions

Combine E&J XO, simple syrup, and juice in a Collins glass. Stir to combine, add ice, and top with Prosecco.
